Tribulations de fin de vie d’une bouteille en plastique : Déchets, flux et territoires

This paper tries to look at waste circulations in Cairo (Egypt). Looking at the many possible recycling patterns of a theoretical plastic bottle in the city, I show that if objects have indeed a social and spatial life, they are also confronted to what I call here a social and spatial “death” understood as a process of picking, sorting and recycling. This social death of objects is embedded in a multiplicity of practices hardly controllable and in the logics of a globalized economy.
